Job Title: Senior Outfitting Designer
Department: Engineering

Summary
The Senior Outfitting Designer plans the form, look, or routing of equipment or systems within before
fabrication or installation, typically through the depiction on a drawing or related document. The Senior
Designer has enhanced knowledge of habitability and outfitting.

Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D drawings and schematics, as well as supporting documents such as a bill of
material or change notice.
- Review design interface with ship structure and other systems using CAD models and drawings
to eliminate interferences and verify form, fit, and function
- Perform quality checks and provide approvals for drawings or documents created by other team
members
- Review, interpret and track fulfillment of all functional and performance requirements included in
engineering design criteria
- Perform verification of installation or fabrication by a physical confirmation via a shop or ship check
- Develop written technical information including procedures, tests, purchase specifications, and
various reports by working with design originators.
- Assist estimating efforts through takeoffs or preliminary calculations
- Comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Organize, track, and prepare submittal information for equipment and materials, including
identification and nomenclature, dimensional data, utility requirements, purchasing data, and
quantities
- Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility,
cost-effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products
- Assist other departments with procurement, installation, commission, and turnover systems and
equipment
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current and new techniques, practices, procedures, and
applicable processes
- Advise superiors of developments that may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, or
interdepartmental relations
- Interact with customers and vendors to effectively communicate interface, requirements, status,
and other details
- Conduct work safely and per established procedures and per practices that increase efficiency
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- In depth knowledge relating to the design of Insulation Systems, Joiner Bulkhead Systems,
Sheathing, Ceiling Systems, Deck Covering Systems, Doors, Furniture, Galley Equipment,
Gratings and Battens, and to a lesser extent, related plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and piping
- Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations, including T9640-AC-DSP-
010_HAB Habitability Design Criteria and Practices Manual, OPNAV INST 9640.1C Shipboard
Habitability Program, various MIL-STD’s and MIL-PRF’s, IMO/ FTP Code, SOLAS, and MIL-S-901
Shock Classification
- Extensive knowledge of the designated engineering field
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations

Education and/or Experience
- Associate degree or technical school in an engineering-related field. Commiserate experience
may be considered
- 10+ years of experience required
