Job Description

We are seeking a part-time (25 hour/week) evening Maintenance Worker at our state-of-the-art Kroc Community Center located in Green Bay, WI. The hours for this position are Monday-Thursday 4pm-9pm, Friday 3pm-8pm and a Saturday rotation.

In keeping with the mission of The Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage, and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Maintenance staff member is a collaborative member of the overall Kroc team focused on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in support of the programs and mission of the Kroc. This role emphasizes all repair and maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment and support to other team members to ensure effective operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.   1. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance procedures on assigned areas and equipment such as restrooms, public areas, trash containment areas and any public or work area, including plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems. Notifies supervisor when outside contractors are needed for certain repairs.
  2. Maintains the appearance of the facility by painting, replacing worn out fixtures and other tasks as necessary to assure an attractive facility is presented to guests, volunteers and employees.
  3. Serves as first respondent to fire alarms, chemical spills, and hazardous materials spills during assigned shift.
  4. Executes the preventative maintenance plan for the facility.
  5. Provide basic care to vehicles and tools to ensure proper operation.
  6. Perform outdoor maintenance tasks to include groundskeeping and landscaping, shoveling and salting, which includes the operation of all relevant equipment including weed trimmers, lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc.
  7. Assists with setup, tear-down, and change-over for events and programs, housekeeping duties, receipt of deliveries, and other facility needs.
  8. Respond promptly to radio calls and other contacts seeking facilities team member assistance, communicating well and being ready and willing to assist with facility needs.
  9. Knowledge and use of all proper personal equipment, including wearing of protective gloves, safety glasses, and lifting belts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience preferred

- OR -

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED Certification or ability to obtain certifications within first 90 days of employment. Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) is preferred within 6 months of hire.

This job is performed in a busy community center environment which includes but is not limited to a typical office setting, a gymnasium, an aquatics center, and event spaces. The building is climate controlled and most work will be done at normal room temperature, however some work areas may be more humid or of variable temperature based on the activities taking place at the time. The noise level in this work environment can range from low to loud.

For other duties of this job, such as groundskeeping and other outdoor maintenance duties, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment when outdoors can again range from low to loud.

This position requires the employee be available to work days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as required.
