Position Description:
The Tank Trailer Engineering Manager Position will exercise primary decision making authority in custom designs to meet specific customer applications. High level authority will apply to decide what parts are needed for manufacturing assembly to meet sales order requirements. Individual can apply high-level authority on all shop floor or purchasing related decisions when deviations are being made from the established design criteria or bill of materials. Holds final decision-making authority on how orders are assigned and processed within the department as well as all staffing decisions within the department, across all four manufacturing sites. This position must manage variable and complex incoming customer sales specifications from both direct and indirect channel to create customized, specific electronic drawing packages for release to manufacturing for sites within the United States and Mexico.
Approximately 7 direct reports and 20 of their subordinates ranging report to this position, from all four Tank Trailer manufacturing sites in the United States and Mexico.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree
College Degree Major Desired: BS in Engineering; MBA or MS in Engineering Management preferred
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:
High degree of understanding in manufacturing processes and engineering design and testing criteria
Familiarity with ASME Drafting Standards and Protocol and GD&T
Comfortable using Minitab or similar reporting/tracking software
Proficient with Auto Cad and Solid Works modeling and drawing software
Familiarity with PDM software and efficient document storage in a custom design environment
15 years product design and production experience preferred
Multisite - multinational management experience preferred
DOT HAZMAT and ASME Section II and Sections VIII preferred
Six Sigma (LEAN, VAVE, Kaizen etc.) experience or training preferred
