Job/Internship Description

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets - passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment - Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

Position Overview:

This part-time position works with materials and process specifications, helps determine compliance with industry and customer requirements, and organizes administrative systems. Ideally the role will assist in design and launch of electronic materials certification and process specification systems.

Expected time commitment of 8-20hrs per week. Possible internship/full time on school breaks. Start date in February 2022.

Essential Duties:

Work with Metallurgist on conversion of materials specifications and system transitions. Tasks can include building electronic forms and workflows to improve effectiveness and transferring documentation into the system. Expanded duties may include pyrometry documentation and/or hardenability integration into heat treat process specifications.

Knowledge & Skills Summary:

  • Desire, but not a requirement, previous experience in ferrous heat treating/manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access
  • Ability to learn system configuration and database basics
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to communicate well with suppliers and coworkers

Education and Experience:

  • Must have ability to read blueprints
  • Preferred experience with electronic documentation or document control
  • Enrolled in or possesses BS degree in engineering or science field. Metallurgy or Materials Science program a plus.
