The Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The person selected for this position will teach undergraduate courses in our teacher education programs in person and online. They may also teach graduate courses in our online MSE program. In addition, this person is expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research and publication and provide service to the department, college, university, K-12 community, and the profession. This position is a 9-month academic year appointment with a teaching load of 12 credits per semester.

The Department of Teaching and Learning includes more than 450 students pursuing majors leading to licensure in 4K-9 elementary and middle school education, grade 4-12 middle and high school education in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, and K-12 technology, and engineering education. The department also includes more than 100 in-service teachers pursuing their master's degree in teaching & learning. In addition, the department provides certificates leading to licensure in English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Responsibilities The person in this position will primarily be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses in child and adolescent development and best practices in K-12 pedagogy. In addition, the person in this position will supervise clinical and student teaching field experiences in local schools. This person is expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research and publication and provide service to the department, college, university, K-12 community, and the profession.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field prior to September 2024 (ABD may be considered).

  • At least three years of full-time teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or high school level.

  • Evidence of preparation for a PK-12 teaching endorsement (or equivalent). The candidate does not need a current teaching license.

  • Ability to teach introductory education courses (e.g., child and adolescent development, learning theory, current issues in education).

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred:
  • Experience supervising pre-student teaching or student-teaching experiences.

  • Experience teaching or working with diverse populations of students in PK-12 education and higher education.

  • Expertise with social emotional learning, culturally responsive teaching or an area related to one or more of the department's majors or certificates.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage in scholarship focusing on PK-12 education and/or teacher education.

  • Record of engagement with collaborations between higher education and PK-12 education settings.
