This position is responsible for providing general and preventative maintenance/minor repairs to the interior and exterior of our Appleton Campus and potentially some items of note in our Madison campus or other campuses remotely, should the need arise. This position has no direct reports, reports to the Manager, Facilities and Operations, and interacts with employees who work onsite, as well as vendors who come onsite for repairs or preventative maintenance tasks.

The goal is to maintain the Appleton campus and support other campuses to be safe, functional, and in good condition for those who are working onsite and those who visit for meetings and events. This includes items such as limited grounds maintenance, furniture moving, room set up, hanging, and installing items, changing light bulbs and ballasts, as well as limited janitorial duties. Must be willing to be on-call and work extended hours if the need arises.

How do I make an impact on my team?

  • Perform building maintenance work including troubleshooting issues and performing basic diagnostic and repairs of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, general carpentry, painting, and carpet tile replacement.
  • Obtain, review, facilitate contracts, and oversee vendors providing building maintenance and more complex repair services, as well as maintaining facilities maintenance manual and record-keeping process for inspection, maintenance, and repair activities - in conjunction with the Manager, Facilities & Operations.
  • Move and/or assemble furniture, equipment, and supplies, set up facilities and meeting rooms, and hang/mount items.
  • Ensure proper operation of all doors and locking mechanisms, make keys when requested, and conduct general housekeeping of mechanical room, electrical rooms, records rooms, and building facility as requested.
  • Maintain grounds and common areas including trash pickup, snow and ice removal from entrances and walkways, spreading salt where needed, and limited landscape maintenance.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance of equipment including HVAC system, fire suppression system, generator, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance-related equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous building conditions and practices and work with management to address and resolve them.
  • Participate in the Business Continuity Council and as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Remain on-call 24/7 for emergency equipment or building issues and respond quickly to critical issues. On-call non-availability subject to prior notice of PTO use, or other approved time off.

What our team expects from you?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. A trade school certificate is preferred.
  • 5 years or more building maintenance experience required with experience in trade field desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with an intermediate knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and lighting.
  • Familiarity with the use of hand and power tools used for maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate a computer and essential software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent industrial safety record a must.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. following safe lifting practices
  • Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
  • The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
