Job Description

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for an Engineer II -- Auxiliary Sytems at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for solving technical problems, developing applicable documentation, and supervising all assigned resources to support the assigned project. The Engineer II assists the Senior Engineers, Engineering Supervisors, and Project Engineers in determining the technical requirements of the project, defining resource requirements to achieve schedule and budget commitments, and solving technical issues as they arise within the field of competence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work independently in solving technical issues
  • Plan, estimate, schedule and monitor assigned work and the work of assigned resources
  • Track and report progress to budget and schedule commitments
  • Supervise assigned resources
  • Facilitate communications of issues and solutions throughout MMC
  • Prepare, check and issue professional quality deliverables
  • Interpret contract requirements
  • Develop contract change documents to support the project needs
  • May be required to define, track and control subcontractor activities
  • May be required to lead or participate in product improvement projects
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineer II may directly supervise 2 to 8 employees. The Engineer II must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
