Job Description
Staff Developer (Multiple Positions) - Shopify (USA) Inc. (New York, NY)
Use test-driven development to ensure that the team builds well-tested code and architecture. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities. Maintain databases within an application area. Identify strategic platform projects for their team. Set development goals and strategies for the team and ensure that they are met on time and within budget. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as UX, product management and design, to ensure that the platform meets the needs of the business and its customers. Review the team's workflow, including code reviews, testing, and deployment. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S. up to 100% of the time.
SALARY: $300,000 – $413,500 base salary per year.
WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive related work experience; OR Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or a related field, and 3 years of related work experience.
Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: Developing and managing search infrastructure using Elasticsearch, including designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable search solutions including optimizing search performance and relevance; Working with affiliate solutions and influencer marketing software; Designing and developing APIs; Relational databases (SQL) at scale; Writing and maintaining unit and integration tests; Developing, maintaining, and debugging large scale web applications specializing in: Java, Python, Ruby on Rails, or GraphQL; and Collaborating with engineers, product, data, UX, and marketing teams.
Travel to various locations throughout the U.S./ international required up to 5%.
Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S. up to 100% of the time.
