Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 25 weeks of military technical training school, along with an additional thirteen years of related experience is required.
OR,
Two years of directly related non-military technical trade school or the equivalent experience, along with an additional thirteen years of related experience is required.
OR,
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or the equivalent experience, along with an additional nine years of related experience is required. Industry certifications are highly preferred

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Principal Field Support Rep. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Installs and repairs equipment; instructs customers in equipment operation; provides technical assistance; checks equipment for malfunctions. Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customer's organization.

Assists management reviewing maintenance contracts and complex system configurations and prepares the field support section of certified proposals
Conducts onsite training for construction safety, rigging, and equipment operation
Conducts site and equipment inspections in order to perform preventative and corrective maintenance
Conducts technical seminars and training for customer or company personnel, informal on the job training for other field service staff members and customers, and over-the-shoulder/refresher training to users in the field as required
Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures using established procedures and submits reports on system reliability metrics to technical/regional support centers
Documents failures and corrective action in accordance with proper procedures, and makes technical recommendations based on this collective data
Ensures civil construction of foundations, roads, and interfacility conduit systems
Frequently interfaces with Customers, Government dignitaries, External consultants/experts, all levels of employees across the company, including Executive Management
Frequently interfaces with engineers
Highest level individual contributor in the field support family
Implements plans and procedures of installation of large steel structures
Implements test plans and procedures in accordance with contract requirements for the verification of deliverable system
May be required to work outside for up to 10 hours a day
May deploy and operate with US Forces to CONUS or OCONUS field locations, including combat operations
May require electrician license
Perform complex technical evaluation and resolve critical technical problems on fielded systems
Performs field activities associated with installing, maintaining, integrating, troubleshooting, testing and servicing of multiple fielded systems/products at customer sites
Recommends design enhancements to internal management and engineering
Represents company at program and customer reviews
Security Clearance may be required; may require TS/SCI clearance based on program assignment
Serves as the subject matter expert working with the tactical customer to accomplish initial installation, configuration and reconfiguration of all equipment as the communications environment evolves
Specific OSHA training such as, 10 hours construction training, may be required as determined by management
Supervises the installation of large aperture antennas, radars, and towers, worldwide, in a construction environment Installs high power electrical systems
Travel required more than 50% of the time
Virtually self-supervising
Works with customer leadership on the planning and implementation of system customization to meeting specific mission requirements

Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts. Contributes to development of new principles and concepts. Problem Solving: Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Discretion/ Latitude: Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior. Impact: Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect image of organization's technological capability. Liaison: Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

*Considerable ability to act as a system technical advisor for all levels of customer leadership
*Ability to use software tools such as HyperTerminal
*Ability to work independently
*Comprehensive understanding of technologies associated with supported systems, and the application of these technologies within the customer environment, including detailed knowledge of system tactical employment configuration
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*In-depth knowledge of advanced routing/switching commands/protocols
*Strong knowledge of basic tool safety
*Strong knowledge of construction safety
*Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
*In-depth knowledge of test and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
*Precision alignment of structures using optical and electronic instruments and tooling
*Skilled at onsite use of heavy equipment for very large structures



Target salary range: USD $62.00/Hr. - USD $67.00/Hr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
